This week we are teaming up with MONDO and releasing two new posters paying homage to films by two giants of world cinema: Andrei Tarkovsky's ‘Nostalghia’ and Carl Theodore Dreyer's ‘The Passion of Joan of Arc’.
Nico Delort's art direction in our previous Tarokvsky posters was just about perfect, so it seemed like the right thing to do to ask him to turn to illustrating the latest poster in the series: Trakovsky's study of homesickness ‘Nostalghia’. Delort's masterful use of composition and value really shine through in this appropriately beautiful and elegant poster.
‘Nostalghia’ is an 18" x 24" screenprint from an edition of 200 and will go on sale simultaneously form our shop and MONDO for our North American friends tomorrow Tuesday 12 January at 5pm UK time.
Zi Xu is a new artist for us, but we suspect we will be working with her again and again. Like Dreyer's tragic masterpiece Zi does not pull any punches and delivers a gut-wrenching portrayal of Joan of Arc that gets you right in the feels. At the same time energetic and sobering, this poster delivers.
‘The Passion of Joan of Arc’ comes in two editions. A UK variant from an edition of 50, and a US red variant also from an edition of 50 and will go on sale simultaneously form our shop and MONDO for our North American friends tomorrow Tuesday 12 January at 5pm UK time.
