For birdwatchers in the British Isles two sightings are hard to top. One is seeing a Waxwing in Winter, the other is the spectacle of a murmuration of Starlings, the synchronised flight of tens, even hundreds of thousands of starlings as they prepare to take shelter for the night. They are not the rarest of sights, but you have to know where to look for them.
